NEW – Writing Case Reports Project 2024
INVITATION
Case Report Project 2024
Sponsored by the Trager Foundation
It all starts with a story. An individual or shared experience in which something happens, something changes. A shift in life-experience as a result of mind-body practice. We Somatic Practitioners in different professions are seeing these changes in our clients every day. We witness the work we do improving quality of life, ease of movement. And there are those clients who forever change our world, influencing and deepening our understanding of our profession. Here’s the thing. Unless we share with each other, we don’t know it’s happening all over the world, not just in our own client population. It is real what we are seeing, what we experience in the somatic professions. It’s time to build a base of stories – anecdotal narratives, case reports (don’t let those words scare you), research projects. Inspired by Jack Blackburn’s writing class in 2023, the Trager Foundation invites you to join us in a one-year experiment writing and sharing. We have discovered that a short anecdotal narrative about your experience with a client will trigger a memory for another practitioner. That practitioner will be in the middle of a series of sessions with one client documenting a specific parameter for its improvement, and maybe write a case report in addition to keeping SOAP notes. A collection of narratives and case reports in one place will inspire another practitioner to initiate a research project.
When a research project demonstrates the effectiveness of what we do, we begin to reach not only the general public, but the medical and greater wellness community as well. The Trager Foundation is hosting monthly gatherings on Zoom during which participants will spend one hour writing, sharing and exploring. Workshops are held the 4 th Wednesday of each month at 7pm Eastern time, and the 4 th Sunday of each month at 8am Easten time, to best support the inclusion of international participants. We would like to end 2024 so many case reports and anecdotal narratives they inspire clinical research. We know our work is effective. Let’s set the wheels in motion to prove it scientifically.
